Introduction to IDEA is a half-day, hands-on workshop that will provide an in-depth overview of the data analysis functionality within the platform including: indexing, summarizing, joining, and filtering. Attendees will first import and perform data verification as well as basic analysis of a general ledger file. Then, an accounts receivable file will be aged and assessed against an AR credit limit file. IDEA’s navigation, visualization capabilities and arsenal of online resources will also be covered to ensure your individual success following this course. We encourage you to complete the “Getting Started with IDEA” webinar prior to attending this course, as you will need to be familiar with IDEA’s basic features and functions.

Analyzing Inventory in IDEA® is a half-day, instructor-led training that walks students through a case study where they are hired to perform an Inventory Review at Bright IDEAs, Inc. The auditor evaluates business and audit risks associated with Inventory and then reviews potential tests that can be used to address those risks. This case study includes audit testing to agree total inventory values, check adequacy and accuracy of inventory, assess the re-ordering system, and analyze profit margins and pricing. We will also utilize a portion of the IDEA Data Analysis Workbook for your reference.
- Import ASCII delimited files using field statistics and control totals to verify accuracy of import
- Use equations to extract obsolete inventory items and negative quantities
- Calculate usage ratios and months of inventory
- Stratify inventory into bands
- Calculate total provisions counts and value by location
- Test accuracy of the reordering system

Introduction to Programming is a 2-day, virtual and hands-on course designed for those who have little to no knowledge of programming, and want to obtain the skills needed to develop complex applications. Students will be guided through key programming concepts including commenting, variables, user input, logic and design, loops, and functions. They will also join a live, instructor-led virtual desktop environment where they will individually be able to test their knowledge, and ask questions. This training will utilize the IDEAScript Editor to navigate through the fundamentals and provides a brief introduction to the integration of programming and IDEAScript.
