The purpose of this two-day introductory course is to acquaint new users with the bulk of IDEA’s basic functionality and breadth of tools. Training is immediately hands-on, so participants have the opportunity to quickly interact with the software by completing exercises and case studies using sample data. Topics include manipulating and adding fields, building equations, importing data, using multiple databases, reconciling data, isolating specific records, identifying irregularities, sampling, and more.

Additional Notes:

You will be working within a virtual computer lab; you do not need IDEA installed in order to attend.
The use of two monitor screens is strongly recommended during your training course.
This is a live, instructor-led course, and attendance is required throughout the session.
Your trainer will send your login information one week prior to the course.

CaseWare IDEA Inc. requires notice of cancellation no later than 10 business days before the training start date. If less than 10 business days’ notice is given, 50% of the training fee will be refunded up to three business days before the training start date. Introduction to IDEA is a half-day, hands-on workshop that will provide an in-depth overview of the data analysis functionality within the platform including: indexing, summarizing, joining, and filtering. Attendees will first import and perform data verification as well as basic analysis of a general ledger file. Then, an accounts receivable file will be aged and assessed against an AR credit limit file. IDEA’s navigation, visualization capabilities and arsenal of online resources will also be covered to ensure your individual success following this course. We encourage you to complete the «Getting Started with IDEA» webinar prior to attending this course, as you will need to be familiar with IDEA’s basic features and functions.

This two-day course introduces experienced users to more advanced topics devoted to workflow automation with IDEAScript macros. IDEAScript, the IDEA programming language behind IDEAScript macros, is similar to and compatible with Visual Basic for Applications, the macro language used in Excel®, PowerPoint®, Word®, Access®, and other Microsoft Office® applications. Topics include recording a macro, IDEAScript environment, IDEAScript syntax, customizing macros, using the Language Browser, functions and subroutines, and more.

Prerequisite: Intermediate-level knowledge of Microsoft® Windows® desktop environment and Microsoft® Office® applications. Experience with CI101 course topics. Completion of CI101 and CI102 is recommended.
