Analyzing Accounts Payable in IDEA is a half-day, instructor-led case study that walks students through their role as an auditor hired to perform an Accounts Payable Audit and Fraud Investigation at Bright IDEAs, Inc. The auditor evaluates business and audit risks associated with AP and then reviews potential tests that can be used to address those risks. The case study includes a review of using IDEA to import data files, profile payments, extract unusual transactions, using Benford’s Law, join data files and much more. We will also utilize a portion of the IDEA Data Analysis Workbook for your reference.

 

Learning Objectives:

  • Extract unusual transactions including rounded amounts, cash, and zero dollar payments
  • Identify payments made above authorized transaction levels
  • Identify missing checks and payments with unusual timing
  • Detect invoices paid in irregular time frames
  • Find “after-the-fact” invoices
  • Identify payments made to unauthorized suppliers

IDEA® Data Analysis Level 2 is a hands-on, two-day course, ideal for those who have completed the IDEA Data Analysis Level 1 training or already have a solid understanding of IDEA platform functionality. This training will cover more advanced principles, such as creating complex equations or criteria, automating tasks, and connecting databases.
Topics include, but are not limited to, advanced imports, data profiling with Benford’s Law, advanced extractions, connecting multiple databases, advanced @Functions, custom functions, and introduction to automation using IDEA.

 

Learning Objectives:

  • Handle difficult imports with greater confidence, speed, and accuracy
  • Create advanced extractions and summarizations
  • Connect multiple databases to bring data together from different sources for analysis

Attendees will first import and perform data verification, as well as a basic analysis of a general ledger file. Then an accounts receivable file will be aged and assessed against an AR credit limit file. IDEA’s navigation, visualization capabilities, and arsenal of online resources will also be covered to ensure your individual success following this course.
We encourage you to complete the “Getting Started with IDEA” webinar prior to attending this course, as you will need to be familiar with IDEA’s basic features and functions.

The purpose of this two-day introductory course is to acquaint new users with the bulk of IDEA’s basic functionality and breadth of tools. Training is immediately hands-on, so participants have the opportunity to quickly interact with the software by completing exercises and case studies using sample data. Topics include manipulating and adding fields, building equations, importing data, using multiple databases, reconciling data, isolating specific records, identifying irregularities, sampling, and more.

Additional Notes:

You will be working within a virtual computer lab; you do not need IDEA installed in order to attend.
The use of two monitor screens is strongly recommended during your training course.
This is a live, instructor-led course, and attendance is required throughout the session.
Your trainer will send your login information one week prior to the course.

  • Use equations to extract obsolete inventory items and negative quantities
