The IDEAScript for Data Analysis – Level 1 is a hands-on, advanced two-day course that guides you through the integration of your programming knowledge and the IDEAScript syntax. It is recommended that you are both competent in IDEA and fundamental programming. You will gain knowledge on how to create a new script that integrates IDEA’s function, walk through the objects needed to make IDEA perform joins, summarizations, and any other task that you may require. You will also develop skills on how to make IDEA create the code and modifications/customizations that require your scripts to be more user-oriented, and also view many relevant real-world case studies.

 

This course is instructor-led with a virtual desktop to provide you with skills needed to create powerful IDEAScript applications and integrations. The IDEAScript Editor is also utilized to create applications and make the script run automatically using Windows Task Scheduler.

 

After completing this training, participants will be able to:

IDEA® Data Analysis Level 1 is a hands-on, two-day,comprehensive introductory course that will acquaint new users with the IDEA platform’s functionality and wide range of tools to simplify your daily workflow and deliver greater insights. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with the software through a range exercises using sample data and will receive personalized support from the instructor – promoting improved competency of the content. Topics include, but are not limited to adding and manipulating fields, building equations, importing data, using multiple databases, reconciling data, identifying irregularities, isolating specific records, and sampling. Relevant real-world case studies will also be shared.

 

After completing this training, participants will be able to:

Introduction to IDEA is a half-day, hands-on workshop that will provide an in-depth overview of the data analysis functionality within the platform including: indexing, summarizing, joining, and filtering. Attendees will first import and perform data verification as well as basic analysis of a general ledger file. Then, an accounts receivable file will be aged and assessed against an AR credit limit file. IDEA’s navigation, visualization capabilities and arsenal of online resources will also be covered to ensure your individual success following this course. We encourage you to complete the “Getting Started with IDEA” webinar prior to attending this course, as you will need to be familiar with IDEA’s basic features and functions.

Analyzing Accounts Payable in IDEA® is a half-day, instructor-led case study that walks students through their role as an auditor hired to perform an Accounts Payable Audit and Fraud Investigation at Bright IDEAs, Inc. The auditor evaluates business and audit risks associated with AP and then reviews potential tests that can be used to address those risks. The case study includes a review of using IDEA to import data files, profile payments, extract unusual transactions, using Benford’s Law, join data files and much more. We will also utilize a portion of the IDEA Data Analysis Workbook for your reference.

 

 

After completing this training, participants will be able to:

 

  • Extract unusual transactions including rounded amounts, cash, and zero dollar payments
